Wiltshire Police have closed a number of roads including Seymour Road, Timbrell Street and Charlotte Square while forensic officers comb the area.

The incident is thought to have started in the York Buildings area.

A police spokesperson said: “Following the incident in Trowbridge in the early hours of this morning we can confirm a local man in his 20’s died at the scene and that we are launching a murder investigation.”

Talking to the Wiltshire Times, Reverend Allan Coutts said: “We have had to cancel our Sunday service due the investigation. No officers are working in the churchyard but they are working in York Buildings.”

An air ambulance attended the scene, landing near Trowbridge Cricket Club.
