Police have launched a probe after a child ‘witnessed a stabbing’ in Swindon.

Officers were deployed in their droves following a report of a knife attack near Buckhurst Field at around 5pm yesterday afternoon (Monday, 18 March).

A child is understood to have witnessed a man emerge from an alleyway clutching his body while bleeding out, shouting that he had been stabbed.

The incident is thought to have occurred in the Bisley Close area, with responding police vehicles and ambulances parked in Helston Road.

Officers carried out searches in the area, but nobody – victim or suspect – was located.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that it is investigating a “third party report of an assault” – adding that enquiries are at a “very early stage”.

“We do not believe the victim sustained life changing or life threatening injuries”, they said.

Anyone with further information, or witnessed the incident, are asked to call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240031509.
