Emergency services have responded to reports of a plane crash-landing in Wiltshire.

999 crews raced to the incident, involving a light aircraft, in the Alton Barnes area, near Pewsey, at around 5.30pm today (22 February).

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) deployed five appliances to the scene.

“I saw the plane flying over my mum’s garden in Manton near Marlborough then heading towards where it eventually crashed”, a witness told Wiltshire 999s.

They added: “As it was out of sight, it sounded like the engine had stalled then I heard it on again but it was well out of sight.”

Wiltshire Police has since confirmed no one has been injured in the minor crash-landing.

A force spokesperson said: “We received a report of a light aircraft performing an emergency landing near Alton Barnes at 5.20pm this evening (22/02).

“The plane landed in a field and both occupants have been reported as uninjured.

“Officers are currently at the scene.”

A DWFRS spokesperson said the service sent fire crews from Pewsey, Marlborough and Devizes along with a technical rescue team from Trowbridge and Land Rover pump from Ludgershall.
