Police are currently responding to a person in distress on a car park in Swindon.

Officers are dealing with the incident at one of the multi-storey car parks in Farnsby Street.

The road has been closed to motorists and pedestrians whilst emergency services attend the incident.

Swindon Bus Company say their buses are being diverted around the area.

“Due to a police incident Farnsby Street is closed to all traffic. Services 1,1A, 5 & 19s are diverting via Station Road and Fleming Way, the nearest alternative stops for these services are Emlyn Square and Fleming Way”, a spokesperson for the firm said.

“We apologise for the disruption and further updates will be posted as soon as possible.”

UPDATE 1.10PM

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “This was a concern for welfare regarding someone on the car park.

“We were called to the car park at midday and the incident was resolved safely around 15 minutes ago (12.55pm).”
