Parents have been warned about a man ‘handing out sweets to children’ outside a school.

Amesbury Primary School teacher Jo Pegman sent an urgent email to parents making them aware of the reported incident today (3 February).

She said she also made nearby Smiley Face Nursery aware and reported the matter to the police.

It’s not known if any of the children accepted the offer of what is believed to be sweets, or if they consumed any.

“Please be aware that it has been reported to us that local children have been approached by a man outside of school handling out sweets”, she wrote.

Adding: “We have informed Smiley Face Nursery and the Authorities and are following their guidelines.

“Please do be vigilant when dropping off and collecting your children.”

Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment. Update follows.
