A murder investigation is underway after a woman died at an address in Swindon.

Police were called to the sudden death of a woman, aged in her 40s, at a property in Standen Way, Blunsdon St Andrew, at around 2.30am today.

A 70-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.

There is a large police presence at the location – including several crime scene investigation vans, police vehicles and detectives carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said the woman’s death is being treated as unexplained.

“People living locally will see an increased police presence throughout the day and we want to provide reassurance that there is no risk to the wider public”, they added.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 26 of today.”
