A motorcyclist sustained a significant injury on the A36 in Salisbury after ‘clipping the kerb’.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and local emergency services attended the serious road traffic collision on the major route at around 5.15pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 20 April).

A motorcyclist is believed to have lost control after clipping a kerb, suffering injuries – the most notable reportedly being a significant leg fracture.

He was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, the closest major trauma centre, for treatment.

The bloke clipped his tyre on the kerb and lost control”, a witness told Wiltshire 999s.

Adding: “He was awake and talking when we left, as he was being tended to by the ambulance crew.”

Forensic collision investigation work was carried out at the scene by specially-trained officers.

The A36 Churchill Way was closed in both directions between St Mark’s Roundabout and College Roundabout for more than seven hours – reopening after midnight this morning (Friday).
