A man was stabbed by a moped riding gang in Swindon, police have confirmed.
The victim, aged in his 40s, was approached by three suspects who asked for his belongings between 11.25pm and 11.50pm on Tuesday (3 June).
As the man ran away from the suspects – who were on mopeds – he was racially abused. He was followed to his home in May Close, Gorse Hill, where he was attacked with a knife.
The victim sustained multiple wounds and was treated by Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance critical care medics at the scene, before being taken to hospital.
The man remained in hospital on Wednesday (4 June) for treatment, but has since been discharged. His injuries are are not being described as serious, Wiltshire Police said.
After injuring the man, the three suspects fled – riding away on mopeds towards The Venny. They are described as white, wearing all black and balaclavas.
A crime scene was put in place as forensic investigation work was carried out. It’s since been lifted.
DS Craig Rathbone, of Swindon CID, said: “We appreciate the community concern this incident will cause and we are treating it incredibly seriously.
“There can be no place for this kind of violence in Swindon and our enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible.
“There will be an increased policing presence in the area while enquiries are carried out. If you have any concerns then please speak to one of our officers.
