Anthony Pinnock, 82, suffered a cardiac arrest when the Hyundai i10 he was driving collided head-on with an MG HS on William Morris Way, Tadpole Garden Village, on Sunday (2 June).
The crash occurred outside Great Western Academy at around 1.05pm. Emergency services were called to the scene, where the man was pulled from his vehicle before it caught fire.
Despite the efforts of bystanders and medics, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
In a tribute, his family said: “We are heartbroken by the sudden loss of our beloved father, Anthony J. Pinnock.
“He was, and will always remain, an extraordinary father, steadfast in his love and unwavering in his support for his family, always putting everyone he cared about before himself.
“His absence has left a space in our hearts that can never be filled.
“Our only comfort is in knowing that he is now reunited with his cherished mother Lily, brother Alan, and daughter Lisa.”
The female driver of the MG, aged in her 30s, was taken to the Great Western Hospital.
