UPDATE: Man stabbed by moped riding gang in Swindon, police confirm
A man is in hospital after a serious incident unfolded at a house in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the scene in May Close, Gorse Hill, at around 11pm on Tuesday night (3 June).
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance landed as the charity’s critical care medics raced to help an injured man, alongside police and ambulance crews.
He was rushed to hospital, and remained there this afternoon (Wednesday). His condition, or the nature of his injuries, are unknown as this stage.
Forensics attended the property this morning, carrying out examinations of the scene – including lifting fingerprints from the front door.
Officers were guarding the home until around midday, when investigators finished at the scene.
According to a neighbour, the incident involved ‘two lads on motorbikes’ – who raced off through an alleyway onto a nearby field known as The Venny.
‘I think they stole it from a house, but might of attacked the owner beforehand’, they added.
Another resident of the street said rumours of a stabbing were doing the rounds, and recall being awoken by loud bangs in the middle of the night.
One man spoke of how the street is usually very quiet and peaceful, with little blue light action.
Wiltshire Police was approached for comment at 11.53am, but the force is yet to provide a formal statement about what happened at the address.
