A man is fighting for his life after smashing a motorbike into a car near Devizes.
Emergency services rushed to reports of the life-threatening road traffic collision on the A342 in the Marden area at around 9.40am today (Thursday).
A black Lexmoto motorcycle – which was displaying an L-plate – struck an oncoming Hyundai Tucson.
The rider, a 29-year-old man – was critically wounded and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance was sent to the scene.
Critical care medics, alongside local ambulance crews, provided urgent care.
He was later airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
The road has been closed since – with forensic collision investigation work being carried out. It’s not expected to reopen until later this evening.
Closures are in place between The Hollow at Chirton and on the A342 at Rushall.
