A man has died after farmhouse caught fire in the Swindon countryside.
Emergency services were called to The Pry, on the B4553 near Purton, shortly before 4am this morning (Saturday).
At the height of the incident, there were six fire crews in attendance – with firefighters rescuing a man, aged in his 60s, from the burning building.
Despite receiving urgent treatment on scene, he was pronounced dead.
A second man, understood to be the deceased’s brother, was taken to hospital where he remains for treatment.
The flames were tackled and an investigation into what caused the fire is underway.
Investigators from South West Forensics and specially-trained fire officers are working together to establish what happened.
The road is closed in both directions between Collins Lane and Bremhill Bridge.

“We can confirm that a man in his 60s has sadly died following a house fire in Purton in the early hours of this morning (21/06).
“Officers were called by the fire service to an address on The Pry, Purton, just before 4am to a report of an ongoing house fire.
“Police attended the address at which an adult male had been removed by firefighters.
“Despite medical attention, the male was sadly determined to have died at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
“We will continue to work with colleagues at the fire service to investigate this sad incident and to establish the cause of the fire.
