Man dead hours after police interview over child abuse allegations

A man was found dead hours after he was questioned over allegations of child abuse.

Detectives quizzed Mark Littlejohns after video footage purportedly showing cruel treatment of his baby were handed over to Wiltshire Police.

Wiltshire 999s understands that he attended an interviewed with the Child Abuse Investigation Team on Thursday (29 May) – who confronted him with the tapes.

Emergency services were called to Littlejohns’ home address in Cowbridge Crescent, Malmesbury, the following day – where he was pronounced dead.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers attended a “sudden death of a man in his 50s” at the property.

Adding: “There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with his family”.

The force confirmed that a mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior contact with the deceased.

The police watchdog confirmed that they received a referral from Wiltshire Police, which “will be will be assessed to determine whether the IOPC needs to be involved in any investigation.”
