A man has been charged after a victim was ‘repeatedly stabbed’ in Cirencester.

Emergency services were called to reports of a man was knife wounds in Matthews Walk at around 1am on Saturday morning (24 May).

The casualty – aged in his 20s – sustained several wounds and was rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

A suspect, 32-year-old George Price, of Middle Mead, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder later that morning.

He’s since been charged with wounding with intent, possession of a knife in a public place and racially-aggravated harassment without violence.

Price has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, 26 May).

A number of crime scenes – including on the footbridge between Middle Mead and Cricklade Road – were put in place while forensic work was carried out.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “Despite the arrest investigating officers are asking anyone with information which they believe is relevant to make contact.

“Information can be provided to police online by completing the following form and quoting incident 32 of 24 May.”
