A man’s been arrested after police raced to an incident in Swindon town centre.

Emergency services were called to Sheppard Street at around 8.30pm yesterday evening (Friday).

Witnesses claimed eight police vehicles and an ambulance were in attendance as paramedics treated a male in a doorway for a minor injury.

At 9.15pm, only two police vans and a police car remained at the incident. Officers appeared to be focused on a property at the Sheppard Street B&B.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said the man was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.

They added: “After examining the scene and speaking to the injured person, it was determined that there were no suspicious circumstances.”

The force said that no arrests were made – but Wiltshire 999s witnessed a male, thought to be aged in his 30s, being detained and subsequently arrested at the scene.

He was arrested on suspicion of threatening to commit arson and threatening to commit criminal damage. He was searched and placed in a police van before it was driven away.
