A major route in central Swindon is closed after a water main burst.

Groundwell Road has been closed outside Holy Rood Church, as Thames Water work to resolve the issue this morning (Monday).

In a statement, a spokesperson for Swindon Borough Council said: “A burst water main has closed Groundwell Road, close to the junction of Victoria Road.

“Thames Water has cordoned off the road to enable its workers to fix the issue and repair the road surface.

“Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes while the work takes place.

“We will provide updates as soon as we have them from Thames Water.”
