There are delays on the M4 after a closure near Swindon due to a ‘distressed person on a bridge’.

Emergency services were called to the mental health-related incident at around midday today (Friday).

The eastbound carriageway between junctions 15 (Swindon) and 14 (Hungerford) were closed whilst police worked to bring the person to safety.

The distressed person was removed from the bridge at around 12.30pm and the road was reopened.

However, traffic has build in the area – with some significant delays for motorists. Delays can be expected for the next hour or so.
