Loud bangs were heard as 999 crews raced to a car fire in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to garages between Penhill Drive and Bratton Close, Penhill, at around 11.30pm on Saturday night (21 June).
The vehicle, believed to be a Ford Focus, was well alight on the arrival of firefighters.
The flames were put out, and the police arranged for the car to be recovered from the scene.
It’s not yet known what caused the blaze, or if officers are treating it as arson.
Locals reported hearing “loud bangs”, believed to be the tyres exploding as the fire took hold.
Some of the garages closed to the blaze appear to have sustained some damage. It’s not known if any possessions within them were affected as a result.
On Friday 13 June, a BMW was set on fire after being driven dangerously nearby.
The incident happened in Seven Fields, a nature reserve in Penhill, at around 8.45pm.
Locals reported seeing a number of young males fleeing the scene on foot before 999 crews arrived. Speculation suggests they may have been armed and masked.
