A number of streets in Lechlade were locked down over a woman’s mental health episode this morning (Friday).
Armed police officers were reportedly deployed in Gassons Road at around 7.40am, alongside ambulance and fire crews.
Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed it was attending a “concern for welfare incident”.
According to locals, a woman was in distress and making threats from within a property.
Officers eventually entered the building and brought out the woman in handcuffs.
She was assessed by paramedics and it’s understood she was left in the care of family members.
“We would like to reassure members of the public that this incident was contained within the address and there was no threat to the public”, a force spokesperson said.
In a post on the Cotswolds Neighbourhood Policing team Facebook page, officers thanked residents for their patients while the incident was resolved.
However, the post has since been deleted for reasons unknown.
The now removed post also confirmed that roads in the area reopened at around 10am.
