Two knifemen ‘with covered faces’ stole money from a Tesco Express store late last night.

Police were called to the shop on Brook Road, Trowbridge, at around 10.34pm on Thursday, 28 December.

Two men who were wearing dark clothing with their faces covered approached a member of staff at the store. They were carrying a weapon, believed to be a knife, and demanded money.

A quantity of cash was handed over and they left on foot, turning right out of the store.

The men were described as white, tall and of average build. They spoke with local accents and were wearing dark coloured hooded tops or jackets, jogging bottoms, dark gloves and dark trainers.

Officers attended the area and carried out searches followed by continued patrols.

Detective Sergeant Melissa Carr said: “This was a frightening incident for the members of staff involved, but luckily nobody was injured.

“We are continuing to investigate the incident today and would ask that any members of the public who were in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything suspicious contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
