Hundreds of soldiers have been deployed in the hunt for a missing army sergeant.
Alex Cairnie, of the Queen’s Royal Hussars regiment, was last seen leaving Tidworth Camp at around midday on Sunday (6 July).
Now, police have launched a major search operation to locate the 30-year-old – with Wiltshire Search and Rescue also tasked.
Military personnel have been deployed in the Tidworth area, working alongside specially trained volunteers and officers.
Police dogs have also been sent out, and a drone is using thermal imaging technology to check local woodland from above.
In an earlier appeal, Wiltshire Police said were “very concerned for his welfare”.
Alex is described as around 5ft 7ins tall, athletic, with mousy brown hair and a beard.
He is thought to have been wearing a light coloured t-shirt and black/grey trousers.
If you see him, or know of his whereabouts, call 999 quoting log 214 of 6 July.
