Specialist firearms officers were seen visiting a number of homes in Swindon yesterday, as police search for a suspect who’s wanted for questioning in connection with a stabbing in Eldene.

Police were seen entering a properties on Helston Road, off Kingswood Avenue, and another on Marlowe Avenue, near junction with Welcome Avenue between 2pm and 4pm.

One local resident, who witnesses the police arriving but didn’t want to be named, said: “It’s a regular occurrence round here now. Every other week there are armed cops hanging around for something.

“It’s getting out of hand, I blame the parents for it. None of my kids – who were brought up properly – would go around the streets with guns and knives.”

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The arrest attempts were to try to locate a man police want to speak to in connection with the stabbing which occurred in Eldene on Thursday 29 March at around 4pm.

“Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101, or 999 in an emergency.”
