The driver can be seen braking carefully, with another vehicle close behind them.
According to the anonymous motorist, a collision was only avoided thanks to a split-second decision not to brake harder.
The concerned driver said: ‘Parents on Melsome, please ask your children not to play football so close to the road!
‘Luckily I used my brain and didn’t brake, otherwise this would have caused an RTC as I had a car close behind me!
‘Thankfully the ball didn’t damage my car.
‘Next time might be a different story!’
Residents are being urged to ensure children play safely and away from traffic to prevent similar near-misses.
