A delivery driver has been ‘severely’ bitten on both hands by a dog in Calne.
The incident happened on Wednesday 29 May – as the courier attended a property in Windsor Road to deliver a parcel.
The victim, a woman in her 50s, suffered injuries to both hands and required hospital treatment, including stitches.
Wiltshire Police confirmed they are investigating the attack.
A force spokesperson said: “We have received a report of a dog biting a delivery driver during a delivery to a property in Windsor Road, Calne, on May 29.
“The victim, a woman in her 50s, suffered injuries to her hands which required hospital treatment.
“Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
Posting online shortly after the incident, the victim – identified only as Tina from Evri – told customers: “Tina from Evri here, anyone that has received an ETA for a delivery from me today, my apologies I cannot complete my round.
“I have been severely bitten on both hands by a dog.”
No arrests have been made and it is not yet known what action, if any, will be taken against the dog’s owner. There’s nothing to suggest that authorities have seized the pet.
