A cyclist hit by a car on the A350 reportedly sustained broken skull in the incident.

The near-fatal road traffic collision happened on the busy route between Melksham and Semington at around 8.30pm on Friday (3 November).

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed at the nearby Wiltshire Air Ambulance base to attend the scene alongside local ambulance crews and numerous police units.

The cyclist – a Polish man aged in his 50s – was airlifted to the major trauma centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for urgent treatment.

It’s understood he sustained several fractures to his skull and required brain surgery. The man remains stable but in critical condition; his family in Poland are aware.

The major A-road was closed between Hampton Park West and Semington for ten hours, reopening at approximately 6am on Saturday morning (4 November).

A detailed forensic collision investigation was carried out at the scene – with Wiltshire Police appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information or have dashcam footage are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Yeam on 01225 694597 quoting log 345 of 3 November. Alternatively, email [email protected].
