Boy airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by van in Amesbury

A 17-year-old pedestrian has been seriously injured in a crash on the A303 last night.

The local boy was hit by a Mercedes Sprinter van on the eastbound carriageway at around 10.30pm near Countess Roundabout, Amesbury.

He was airlifted to Southampton Hospital with with serious head and leg injuries.

The road was closed for approximately six hours for collision investigation work.

PC Charlotte Sartin, from Wiltshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen this collision yesterday evening.

“The van was travelling on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 when the collision happened; were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you have dash-cam footage?

“If you can help, please contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 54200044812. Alternatively you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
