A road in Royal Wootton Bassett is currently closed following a road traffic collision.

Emergency services were called to the scene in New Road at around 9pm, where a silver BMW was destroyed when it crashed into a telegraph pole.

The driver of the car didn’t require any medical treatment and nobody else was injured.

BT has been called to the scene to make the telegraph pole safe; it has snapped in half and is being popped up by a tree.

The road is expected to remain closed for some times while work is carried out.

A police spokesperson said: “A number of people came forward at the scene to give their account of the collision but we’d ask if anyone else witnessed this and saw another car in the area or have CCTV that saw the incident to contact the Wiltshire Police non emergency 101 number quoting our log number 0393 from 2nd June.”
