A biker and a pillion passenger have been seriously injured in a collision on the A361.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on the busy route in Southwick, near Trowbridge, at around 3pm this afternoon (Monday).
A white Aprilia motorbike struck a blue Honda Jazz as the driver emerged from Chantry Gardens.
The biker and their pillion passenger – both males – were treated for serious injuries, including numerous broken bones.
They were rushed to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for further care. Their injuries aren’t thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.
The road reopened to motorists past the scene at around 5pm, with both vehicles recovered by 5.30pm.
Sergeant James Barrett told Wiltshire 999s that an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
In a post on Facebook, Wiltshire Police said the road would be closed for “several hours” – but it opened sooner than expected.
A force spokesperson wrote: “Please be advised we are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision in Southwick.
“Frome Road, A361, is closed in both directions and will likely remain closed for several hours.
“Please seek alternative routes and follow diversions.”
