A teenager has been stabbed during an incident in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Police and ambulance crews raced to New Road Park following reports of the knife assault at around 9.30pm yesterday (Monday, 3 June).

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed in Brynard’s Hill Country Park, as a team of critical care medics were conveyed to the scene in a police vehicle.

A 16-year-old boy sustained stab wounds, described as serious but not life-threatening or life-changing by Wiltshire Police.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment by land ambulance and the air ambulance returned to its Somerset base.

Three males have been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and are in custody for questioning.

A parent of a child who was in the area when the incident happened said: “My son and his friend were at the park when a fight broke out.”

She said that he heard someone say “put those shanks away” and “why bring knives to a fist fight”.

An investigation into events is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101 and quote log number 357 of 3 June.
