The A419 has been closed after flooding and multiple road traffic collisions tonight.

Emergency services were called to the stretch of road between Cirencester and Caste Eaton at around 7.30pm today, initally keeping the road open to traffic.

A short time latter, police announced that the road is now closed in both directions.

Highways England said flooding was also an issue leading to the road closure.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please avoid the area while we deal with those involved, there maybe road closures or diversions in place shortly once all emergency services arrive at scene.

“The A419 is closed in both directions near to the Spine Road, even with all those signs, cones and a marked Police car people are still stopping to ask if they can use the road!”
