UPDATE: Arrest made after man seriously assaulted at vehicle recovery depot
A man has been airlifted after police raced to a ‘major’ incident in Highworth.
A significant number of emergency services were sent to the scene on Blackworth Industrial Estate at around 11am this morning (Thursday).
At the height of the incident – believed to be a serious assault – there were three armed response units and around eight police cars present.

Two ambulances, an ambulance operational commander and Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance attended – with the helicopter touching down near Aldi.
A man was loaded into the air ambulance after being stabilised. He has since been flown to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. The man’s next of kin has been informed.

Wiltshire 999s understands that the incident, which was described as “major” by a police officer on scene, happened at Cotswold Vehicle Recovery.
The firm holds a Wiltshire Police contract, recovering vehicles for the force – which are then stored at their secure depot.
A crime scene is in place at the business on Blackworth Industrial Estate, with forensic investigation work expected to be undertaken in due course.
Cordons are likely to remain in place for some hours.
