A takeaway in Swindon has been shut down under a three-month closure order following reports of antisocial behaviour and drug use.
The Peri Peri Café, on Manchester Road, was closed by police after concerns were raised by local residents and surrounding businesses.
The premises had become a hotspot for large gatherings throughout the day and night, with individuals reportedly loitering in the nearby alleyway and causing disruption to the community.
Police secured the closure order at Swindon Magistrates’ Court as part of wider multi-agency efforts to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in the Broadgreen area.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We have secured a three month closure order on the Peri Peri Café on Manchester Road, Swindon, following reports of antisocial behaviour and drug use in and around the premises.
“We acted upon local residents and businesses’ concerns around the impact of large gatherings of people throughout the day and night at the premises, particularly loitering in the alleyway.
“The work is part of our ongoing multi-agency work in Broadgreen to make the area safer for all.”
