UPDATE: Urgent searches for person missing in river near Lechlade continue
A major water search is underway after a person reportedly disappeared in a river.
Emergency services have swarmed Buscot Weir, near Lechlade, this evening (Saturday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews were first spotted responding to the popular River Thames swimming spot in Oxfordshire at around 9.30pm.
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bristol has been tasked, and is currently circling the area.
A witness says that there are around seven fire appliances at the scene – including one towing a boat. Firefighters appear to be putting on red drysuits.
Buscot is located just a few miles over the Wiltshire border, and is five miles north-east of Highworth.
