Police raced to a roundabout on the A350 after a hot air balloon suddenly landed.
Officers closed part of the route in Melksham to ensure public safety following the unexpected incident at around 9pm on Monday (16 June).
An aerial photograph sent into Wiltshire 999s shows a police car across the Bowerhill Roundabout, partially blocking the route.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers attended – and the three occupants of the hot air balloon were uninjured.
The balloon was packed away safely a short time later and the road reopened.
The force said that nobody was arrested or cautioned in connection with the incident.
