A bank in Swindon has been forced to close following an attempted break-in this morning.

Police officers were called to the incident on Cricklade Road at around 8am this morning, after receiving reports of ‘two suspicious looking males’ were witnessed running from Lloyds Bank.

The bank will remain closed while the damage is assessed and it’s deemed safe to reopen.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Bank said: “As the result of an incident which took place on Tuesday 24 April, our Cricklade Road branch in Gorse Hill will unfortunately be closed until further notice.

“We are supporting the police with their investigations and are assessing the full extent of the damage to determine when the branch will be safe to re-open.

“We apologise to our customers for this disruption in service.”

The nearest Lloyds Bank branch can be found on Regent Street in Swindon town centre.

“We were called to Lloyds Bank at just after 8am this morning after two suspicious looking males were seen running away from the building by a member of the public”, a police spokesman said.

“The building was checked but no forced entry had been made.”
