Swindon Borough Council has announced that the Household Waste Recycling Centre has been closed due to strong winds from Storm Doris.

A spokesperson said: “There have been several incidents today involving large items of waste and debris being blown around the site so the only safe course of action is close the site until the winds die down. The site will be open tomorrow as normal from 8.00am.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to ensure public safety and reopen the site as soon as possible.”
