A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Wiltshire.
Emergency services were called to Davies Road in Longhenge, near Salisbury, at around 7.50am this morning (Saturday).
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, numerous local ambulance crews and police raced to provide urgent treatment after a man, aged in his 50s, was stabbed.
Despite the best efforts of medics, he died at the scene.
A 21-year-old man from Durrington has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
In an earlier statement, Wiltshire Police said they were responding to a “serious incident” and asked locals to respect the cordons in place.
However, an updated statement has since confirmed that a murder investigation is underway.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following an incident at Longhedge this morning (03/05).
“We responded to reports that a man had been stabbed in Davies Road at 7.52am.
“The victim, a man aged in his 50s, died at the scene.
”His family are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts are with them at this hard time.
“A 21-year-old man from Durrington was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody and our enquiries are ongoing.
“There is no wider risk to the public.
“A smaller cordon will remain in Davies Road overnight.”
Forensic services vehicles, including a South West Forensics welfare van, are in attendance — and are likely to remain on site for the next 24 hours.
