There was a huge emergency response after a man ‘stabbed himself’ in at a property in Swindon on Saturday evening (26 April).

999 crews, including Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, were called to the serious incident at Dr Behr Court in Pinehurst at around 6.30pm.

Three ambulances, two ambulance cars, numerous police vehicles and a council Homeline unit were dispatched to the scene.

A 56-year-old man sustained a stab wound and required urgent medical treatment.

The casualty was flown to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for further care. His condition was unknown at the time of publishing.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that nobody else is being sought in connection with the stabbing – indicating the injuries were self-inflicted.
