Firearms have been discovered in unit on industrial estate during a repossession.

Specialist officers from Wiltshire Police were alerted to the find yesterday morning, when Swindon Borough Council were taking possession of the building on Darby Close.

The guns were found in a property formerly belonging to Seaton’s Building Services on Cheney Manor Industrial Estate around around 9.30am on Wednesday.

A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson said: “We were in the process of taking peaceful possession of the building when we discovered a firearm, at which point we immediately called the police.”

Armed police officers from the Tri-force Specialist Operations Collaboration attended the scene.

“We were called to an address on the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate yesterday (18th April) at around 9.30am after some firearms had been discovered during the clearing of a building, a spokesperson said.

“We seized the weapons and are keeping them at our firearms store for now.”
