Staff at a phone shop in Chippenham were left ‘traumatised’ after a serious incident today (Sunday) – which left the building a crime scene.

Police raced to reports of masked suspects entering O2 in Borough Parade at around 3.30pm.

It’s claimed three males robbed – or attempted to rob – the store while threatening workers.

One eyewitness told Wiltshire 999s that ‘three masked men suddenly ran into O2, before running back out around one minute later’.

They added that several ‘plain-clothed police officers appear out of nowhere’ before ‘tasering one of the men in front of me’.

The store manager said that she and her team were “traumatised by today’s actions”.

Forensic investigation work was ongoing at the scene until around 7pm. An abandoned rucksack appeared to be the focus.

Borough Parade was also cordoned off between Specsavers and the high street to preserve potential evidence.

Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment on the incident; further details are likely to be revealed by the force on Monday (17 March).
