Alleged drink driver arrested after suffering serious injuries in crash

An alleged drink driver who was seriously injured in a crash has been arrested.

999 crews were called to the A30 near Salisbury shortly before 6pm on Wednesday (5 February).

The incident, close to Firsdown, involved a red Volkswagen and a small white van.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene alongside local emergency services.

Wiltshire Police said that the driver of the Volkswagen sustained serious injuries and was taken to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment.

The casualty, an 18-year-old man, was later arrested on suspicion drink driving.
