A murder investigation in Swindon is ongoing – as the victim is named locally.

Tracey Peck died following an incident at a house in Cowdrey Close, Toothill, in the early hours of Wednesday morning (29 January).

A man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder and remains in custody.

A neighbour told of how Tracey was “always friendly” and a “lovely person”. They said that she had adult children, and was a grandmother.

In tributes on social media, she was described as “so lovely” – with dozens of people paying their respects on Facebook.

Wiltshire Police is yet to comment on the circumstances of the suspected killing. Forensic work is understood to be ongoing at the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We responded to reports of a sudden death in Toothill in the early hours of this morning (29/01).

“Sadly, at around 12.40am (29/01) a woman was found deceased at a property in Cowdrey Close and a man, who was at the address, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“He remains in custody for questioning.

“Officers have put a cordon at the address while they investigate the circumstances.”
