A woman accused of killing Harry Parker in a crash has been targeted by vigilantes – and was forced to flee her home today (Monday).

Police are understood to have raced to Ivy Mwangi’s address in Redhouse, Swindon, after several people attempted to break into her property at around midday.

14-year-old Harry was struck by a Jeep in Akers Way in November 2022, but the case against Mwangi – a care worker – has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

In a statement, Tim Cole, the Acting Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor at CPS Wessex, said that it was due to evidential difficulties.

Now, it seems locals are taking matters into their own hands – and Wiltshire Police have reportedly been patrolling Mwangi’s street regularly over fears of a revenge attack. A CCTV unit has also been set up nearby.

Earlier today, officers blue-lighted it to her home following an incident which, according to neighbours, involved a number of people trying to gain entry to her house.

Numerous police cars were in attendance, and a short time later Mwangi emerged with a travel bag and was driven away from the scene with a police escort.

“Three police cars and another with armed officers in turned up at her house”, a resident said.

Adding: “Three people attempted to smash her front door in. Three men and one woman.”

They said that in recent weeks, police have been “driving around every 30 minutes and parking up for five minutes in high-vis cars both day and night”.

In relation to today’s incident, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said officers attended a “minor disturbance”.

Adding that “words of advice were issued” and “no arrests were made”.
