Two crime scenes in Highworth have been lifted after police investigated a ‘miscarriage’.

Emergency services were initially called to a “medical incident” at an address in Queens Avenue on Friday evening (25 October).

According to a source, a woman was taken to hospital – where it’s claimed staff contacted the police to raise concerns about the loss of an unborn baby.

It’s not clear what prompted detectives to launch a full-scale probe into the matter, but at least five forensics were deployed to the property involved alongside Swindon CID.

A second house, in nearby Vorda Road, was also declared a crime scene and also combed for evidence.

Wiltshire Police has not confirmed whether anyone was arrested or questioned in connection with the investigation – but have said that it is no longer a police matter.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Enquiries at a property in Highworth following a medical incident have now concluded.

“Although there was police activity at the time our investigation has resulted in this no longer [being] a police incident.

“We would like to thank the family involved for their understanding and co-operation.”
