Paramedics requested urgent police backup to an incident in which they believed a man had been stabbed outside a Trowbridge pub on Saturday morning.

The ambulance service were called to outside the Kings Arms on Castle Street at just after midnight following reports of a man having suffered a stab wound to the arm.

The injured male refused to engage with the paramedics, and they requested assistance from Wiltshire Police, who arrived at the incident at approximately 12.20am.

During a short investigate at the scene, police officers had ascertained that the injury had been caused accidentally and no crime had been committed.

It is believed the casualty fell into a window, though no broken windows were found nearby and Wiltshire Police has received no reports of criminal damage.
