A cyclist has been killed in a crash with a lorry on an industrial estate in Wiltshire.

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in Stephenson Road, Westbury, at around 1.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday).

The incident involved a male who was riding a green bicycle, aged in his 30s, and a heavy goods vehicle at the junction for Brook Lane.

The man sustained significant injuries and despite treatment from members of the public and medics, including the Wiltshire Air Ambulance critical care team, he died at the scene.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that the man’s next of kin has been informed, and they are being supported by family liaison officers.

A full-scale forensic collision investigation has been launched – with both Stephenson Road and Brook Lane closed to motorists and pedestrians.

The area is likely to remain cordoned off until late this evening.

Witnesses, or anyone with information or dashcam footage, are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log 116 of today (9 July). Alternatively, email [email protected].

In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Stephenson Road, Westbury has been closed following a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a lorry.

“The closure includes parts of Stephenson Road and Brook Lane including pedestrian access.

“We would urge drivers to avoid the area.”
