An arrest has been made over a sex attack on a pony in Trowbridge six months ago.
Police are also investigating a reported second incident of a similar nature involving a cow in fields off Drynham Lane between 26 June and 27 June.
Officers attended the area on Saturday (29 June) and arrested a man – aged in his 40s – in connection with the pony being assaulted in Whaddon Lane, Hilperton, on 24 January.
The suspect was held in custody on suspicion of having sexual intercourse with an animal, an offence under Section 69 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Following questioning, the man was released on bail as the probe continues. It’s understood that his bail conditions prohibit him from going onto farmland.
Little is known about the recently reported Drynham Lane incident, but police say they are still working to establish whether any offences have been committed.
In relation to the January incident, CCTV footage caught a man entering a stable in boxer shorts and a top. On emerging approximately 15 minutes later, he was no longer in boxer shorts.
Within the stable was a small pony, which the owner says was swabbed for DNA – which has reportedly returned confirmation of human DNA.
At the time, officers swarmed the Hilperton countryside and carried out urgent searches, but nobody was located.
