A man found dead with serious injuries was ‘not murdered’, police say.

An investigation was launched following the death at a bungalow in Thorne Close, Coombe Bissett, at around 3pm on 4 January this year.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a man aged in his 50s died of injuries sustained – no longer thought to have been inflicted by a third party.

A woman, aged in her 40s, was arrested on suspicion of murder – but has since been released by detectives with no further action.

It follows the conclusion of a post mortem and further tests, which appear to have ruled out foul play.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The death of a man in Coombe Bissett is no longer being treated as suspicious.

“Officers attended a property in Thorne Close at approximately 3pm on January 4 following a report that a man in his 50s had been found with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man died at the scene.

“A post mortem and further tests have now taken place and his death is being treated as non-suspicious.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.

“A woman in her 40s, who was arrested at the time on suspicion of murder and released on bail, has been released with no further action.

“Concerning the cause of death, this is not for us to say and will be a decision made by the coroner at the inquest.”
