The body of a missing Wiltshire woman was recovered from a river in a picturesque village in Hampshire, Wiltshire 999s can reveal.

Police, supported by dozens of search and rescue volunteers, had been looking for Lynne Morrall following her disappearance on 22 March.

Searches were first carried out near her home in Downton and the Salisbury area – including Churchill Gardens – over the past 16 days.

Earlier this week, detectives found CCTV footage showed her alighting a bus in the picturesque village of Breamore, located just over the county border in Hampshire.

Specialist officers – including drone pilots and dog handlers – and Wiltshire Search and Rescue were deployed into the area to carry out extensive searches.

At around 12pm yesterday (Saturday, 6 April), locals reported seeing a large emergency services presence near Breamore Mill – a historic building that sits on the River Avon.

Many of the personnel were wearing drysuits and boats were carried onto the water off Woodgreen Road. A short time later, it’s said that Lynne’s body was recovered.

In a statement following the discovery, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing Downton woman Lynne.

“Officers have been carrying out extensive search work in the Breamore area today with the assistance of the drone unit, specialist dogs and water resources after Lynne was reported missing on March 22.

“Sadly, a body was discovered this afternoon, and while formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of Lynne have been informed of this latest development.

“Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time. Formal identification will take place in due course.

“Although it is early stages, we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
