An elderly man was left injured in a road for hours after a hit-and-run in Corsham.

Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision in Pickwick Road at around 7.15pm yesterday evening (Friday, 9 February).

A 78-year-old man was struck by a car close to The Methuen Arms pub – but the driver failed to stop and made off from the scene.

Members of the public rushed to the casualty’s aid, waiting with him until an ambulance arrived more than two hours later.

The man sustained injuries to his ankle and cuts to his head during the crash.

The suspect vehicle – possibly an electric Peugeot 3008 in black or green – continued straight across the mini roundabout and along Pickwick Road.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Enquiries are currently ongoing and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dash cam footage or CCTV/doorbell footage from the Pickwick Road area to get in touch immediately.

“Call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240016112. Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
